Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Kwalata Hiking, Camping, and Spring Festival is taking place this month at the Faan Meintjes Nature Reserve and it is the ideal time to enjoy the fresh air and outdoors. The City of Matlosana, in partnership with the Department of Economic Development, Environment, Conservation, and Tourism (DEDECT), and the Matlosana Hiking Club, is presenting the festival on September 27.

Amogelang Tatai is the men’s 8km junior national cross country champion. The nationals took place at Middelburg, Mpumalanga. He holds four national titles in one year and is unbeaten in any event this year.

The Over Sixty Club comprising Adamayview Oldies launched their uniforms and graced the recent fun walk of Matlosana Forum. The participants felt comfortable going down the streets of Adamayview. Vigorous aerobics led by Sesing Molalogi was enjoyed by all participants with some throwing away walking sticks and joining the rhythm of music. A presentation of the importance of hydration was given by Ellen Malgas. The chairperson of the club, Glenda Masoeu, said the club started with eight members in April 2025 and has grown to 14 members.

Jerry Griqua, a local football fanatic, can be seen with Boozo Mighty, the chairperson of the Orlando Pirates supporters. They are waiting for the MTN Cup final this Saturday September 13, between Stellenbosch and Pirates. They are convinced Orlando Pirates is going to take the MTN Cup!

Athletes from Ithuseng Primary in Jouberton participated in the NW Cross Country on August 30 in Rustenburg. These three athletes will represent the province at the National Cross Country in Mpumalanga from October 2-4. Nomalanga Malefo ended first, Phenyo Sekang was fourth and Kgothatso Williams also competed. They are with their coach, Matshidiso Matlhoko.
