Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The second installement of the NW N12 Ultra Marathon was held this past weekend. Runners in colourful attire jogged through Klerksdorp streets on Saturday morning October 4. The event featured two exciting race categories: a 21 km race and a 5 km race, both of which drew an enthusiastic turnout of athletes and community members. Nkoka Lebenya from Lesotho claimed victory in the 21 km men’s race, and Kebogile Motshabi, representing Pan African Resources, secured first place in the 21 km women’s race.
Team Tom returns with medals
Team Tom attended the Limpopo Championship that was held this past weekend (October 4 and 5) in Mahwelereng, in Mokopane. The team was represented by 45 players and they returned home with 15 medals - 14 acquired on October 4. Nombuso Ngono obtained silver as a runner-up in the ladies u65 kg category on the Sunday. She is seen with Sensei Thomas Mayekani.
Soccer on Heritage Day
Matlosana LFA hosted the Maweza Festive Games, an u9 soccer tournament celebrating Heritage Day. Kanana Blue Chelsea FC were crowned champions. Shawela Alliance in partnership with Twizza also hosted an u11 heritage tournament where Klerksdorp Rising Stars FC were crowned champions.
Team SA takes gold in kumite
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association (Tiska) hosted its highly anticipated national and international championship on September 12 and 13. The event brought together karateka from across South Africa and abroad, including a strong team from England, in a weekend filled with discipline, determination, and world-class karate. Adding prestige to the championship was the presence of Tiska’s founder, Gursharan Sahota, who travelled specially to attend the event.
