Lentswe, Leeudoringstad - A local policeman is one of the province’s top pool players. Vincent Maphazi plays blackball and eightball and he is the 8ball NW player of the year 2024. He is affiliated with NW Pool under Eightball and under SABF under SAPS and has provincial colours under NW Pool and SA colours under SABF. Last year he qualified in Cape Town to represent SA at the EBA Nations Cup of Blackball Pool held in England.

In form Jamaica recently moved into third spot, behind Australia and New Zealand, on the world rankings, after beating England in a Test series.
Festive games in Kanana launched
Lentswe, Kanana – The launch of the Kanana Maweza Community Festive Games took place last week. The games will be held from December 11 to 15th.
Friendship on the pitch
Lentswe, Jouberton - The 018 Friendship Cup took place last weekend. It is organised by regional teams from the Dr KK region. Six teams from NW travelled to Carle-tonville in Gauteng in October. The event, played on December 7 was supposed to be the return leg where six teams from Gauteng were scheduled to compete. Unfortunately all Gauteng teams withdrew due to challenges encountered and the organisers opted for teams playing in the Dr KK regional league to play.
Checkmate in Wollies
Lentswe, Wolmaransstad – The Tshime-ga Chess Institute hosted their second chess tournament titled “TCI Rapid Festival” on Saturday December 7. The organisation would like to thank all the chess players who participated and all their sponsors. The tournament consisted of only an open section, and it was attended by Dr Kenneth Kaunda chess players, with visitors from Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati. The tournament had a prize fund of R4 000 with medals and a chess registration voucher to the best junior for the 2025 Dr Kenneth Kaunda Chess tournament.
