NOORDWESTER – LICHTENBURG - The Lichtenburg SAPS CPO, in conjunction with CPF and Crime Prevention Youth Desk representatives have through divine intervention raised a Spiritual Crime Prevention GBV Awareness Campaign today at the station.
In attendance of this campaign was representatives of the station’s Spiritual Crime Prevention desk, different Faith Based Organisations, Department of Social Development, Department of Health, Thusanang Trauma Centre, New Beginnings Support Group and Refentse Men’s Forum.

The campaign commenced with Mr. Feni rendering a powerful opening prayer which set the tone of the campaign.
Colonel Bekeer outlined that the Spiritual Crime Prevention main objective is to have the spiritual arm from faith based organisations to partner with the police to combat crime in a form of spiritual warfare. One of the main topics chosen for today was GBV.  Church leaders were asked to touch on GBV in churches and the community and not turn a blind eye on this ill that is bringing pain within the community of Lichtenburg.
Dr Kate Pretorius from Thusanang Trauma Centre pleaded with the pastors and reverends that topics of GBV and substance abuse should not be made to be a taboo.  They were to be discussed because failing to tackle this social ill means there will never be a positive outcome in eradicating the problem.
Various pastors in the community delivered intercessory requests addressing moral transformation and upliftment against GBVF and substance abuse.
This GBV awareness campaign is a build up for Lichtenburg Spiritual Crime Prevention community outreach campaigns to engage further with the community in a spiritual realm, as they are the link between different churches and the SAPS.  Boiketlo Gause CPO Intern.
