POTCHEFSTROOM: 17 February 2025 – “The SAPS focusses on enhanced crime prevention and combatting and will continue to have a zero-tolerance approach for criminals,” emphasised the Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General Patrick Asaneng.
“With heightened police visibility and crime prevention and combating actions like roadblocks as well as stop and searches between 10 and 16 February, 1 076 suspects were arrested,” advised Colonel Adéle Myburgh.
Two arrested after murder of Mooinooi woman
BRITS POS – MOOINOOI – Two men were arrested on Friday, after the body of a 19-year-old woman from Mooinooi was found in bushes along the N4 Bakwena highway on Sunday, 2 February.
At first a case of a missing person was registered at Mooinooi police station after 19-year-old Lerato Moalosi was reported missing. According to information, Moalosi and her boyfriend arrived at her place in the early hours of Sunday morning, 2 February in Modikwane, in Modderspruit, Mooinooi.
TOLL PRICE HIKES - N1 and N4 highways in SA
BRITS POS – BRITS - The South African National Roads Agency has announced price hikes for 15 toll plazas located on the N1 and N4 Platinum Toll Roads.
The higher toll fees will become payable from 1 March 2025 and affect all classes of transport including light, medium-heavy, large-heavy, and extra-large-heavy vehicles.

Alleged serious misconduct by Madibeng’s MM
BRITS POS – BRITS – The Municipal Manager (MM) of the Madibeng Local Municipality, Quite Kgatla has to answer to Council on alleged procurement irregularities two months into his job.
Kgatla was appointed by the Madibeng Council in November 2024 and was apparently previously the MM of Mopani District Municipality in Mpumalanga with its head office in Phalaborwa.
