RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - On Friday, 30 May, the Rustenburg Regional Court sentenced 38-year-old Andries Boy Boy Baloyi to 12 years’ imprisonment for the murder of a 32-year-old man.
The incident occurred in June 2022 at Ikemeleng informal settlement in Kroondal.According to court evidence, Baloyi and the victim were part of a group gambling outside a well-known local tavern when an argument broke out. The dispute was reportedly over R50 and a dice board.
The victim attempted to walk away from the confrontation, but Baloyi followed him and stabbed him in the chest. The victim was rushed to a nearby clinic, where he was declared dead on arrival.
Detective Warrant Officer Karel Khumalo was assigned to investigate the case. Baloyi was arrested shortly after the incident and remained in custody until the sentencing.
The Acting Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2 Commissioner, Brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, commended Detective Khumalo for his dedication and thorough investigative work. She also urged community members to avoid illegal gambling activities, which often lead to violence and serious crime.
