Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Nhlanhla Hobe, an 18-year-old matric learner, is busy with upliftment projects while wearing the crown of Miss Face of North West 2025. She was crowned in March in the pageant hosted by Janny Djan Modelling Academy in Potchefstroom. Nhlanhla is with Yez Models and coached by Refilwe Mothudi. As the reigning queen, Nhlanhla has dedicated her reign to advocating for children’s wellness, a cause she is deeply passionate about. During Easter, she visited the Rethabile Child & Youth Care Centre in Klerksdorp where she handed out Easter eggs to both learners and teachers, spreading the Easter spirit and reminding them that they are loved and remembered.
She also extended her visit to the Sunnyside Informal Settlement and Him 1st Home Academy, where she spent a joyful day with the children, singing, sharing smiles, and being uplifted by their words of appreciation.
More recently, on October 2, Nhlanhla visited Letlhasedi Combined School, a farm school, to motivate and inspire learners about the importance of education. As a fellow matriculant, she connected with the Grade 12 learners, encouraging them to stay focused, ask for help when needed, and form study groups. At the request of the school principal, she addressed the matric class directly, sharing her own experiences and offering words of encouragement.
During her visit, she awarded gifts to outstanding learners from Grade 8 to Grade 12 and handed out snacks: sweets, popcorn, Simba chips, and juice, to all learners at the school.
She gifted the top performing learners with a stationery set, water bottle & a cellphone. The visit was well-received, with teachers and learners alike expressing gratitude for her presence and kindness.
Notably, Nhlanhla also learned that due to budget constraints, the school is unable to host a matric farewell celebration.
She is now appealing to the Department of Education, local businesses, and community members to support and sponsor a matric lunch for the 47 Grade 12 learners at Letlhasedi Combined School.
