Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Another suspect was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Hasani Daniel Maluleka (62) in Wilkoppies in April. Provincial Organised Crime arrested Chabedi Phillip Rapuleng (44) in Heilbron after he was traced through meticulous investigations. He was arrested on August 13, after his court appearance at the Heilbron Magistrate’s Court for an unrelated case of kidnapping and robbery. Rapuleng appeared in the Klerksdorp Magistrate’s Court the next day and was remanded in custody after he abandoned his bail application.
Suspects caught with livestock
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Three men, driving an Isuzu bakkie, were arrested last week for possession of suspected stolen livestock. The trio have been on the police radar for a while. They were stopped while on their way to Gauteng. “Upon searching the vehicle, members of the Dr Kenneth Kaunda Operational Coordination Centre, Potchefstroom Flying Squad, Stock Theft Unit, Klerksdorp Visible Policing and JP Security, found the 26 goats worth R50 000.
Unemployment surges in North West
Lentswe, Klerksdorp - Unemployment is approaching a provincial disaster.
The NW continues to be the only province with more unemployed people than working, and there are calls to declare the joblessness a provincial disaster. According to the latest Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) from Stats SA, the province has an official unemployment rate of 40.1% and an expanded unemployment rate of 54.7%, meaning more than half of its working-age population is unemployed.

Lentswe, Klerksdorp - The Selala family celebrated the 100th birthday of their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Maletsie Agnes Selala was born on August 20 1925 at Thaba Nchu in the Free State. She is the fifth child of the late Mohlolo Nthoba and Mametswana Selala. She moved to the Transvaal in the forties and got married to John Shikongo. They were blessed with five sons and a daughter. Three of her sons are still alive and she has 27 grandchildren and thirty greatgrandchildren.
