RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Legal Aid South Africa’s North West/Free State Provincial Office awarded their best performing employees at the 19th Annual Achiever Awards on 16 November.
Legal Practitioner Tshepiso Mokoroane from the Legal Aid SA Phuthaditjhaba Local Office scooped the award for Lawyer of the Year: District Court. Siviwe Rwaxa from the Legal Aid SA Bloemfontein Local Office walked away with the Lawyer of the Year: Regional Court award.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Impala Platinum Holdings (Implats) has expressed their deep sadness after 11 employees lost their lives at Impala Rustenburg's 11 Shaft.
 A further 75 employees were injured, of which 14 are considered critical, in the accident and were transferred and admitted for treatment to four hospitals in the region. The mine rescue operation is completed and all 86 employees are accounted for.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The Rustenburg Regional Court handed down sentences in two separate cases of child sexual abuse last week.
In one case, a father was sentenced to 75 years imprisonment, while in the other case, a stepfather was handed a 30 year jail sentence. In the first case reported in March of 2010, a social worker alerted the police about the wellbeing of three children, who were in the care of their parents. The latter initially stayed in Pretoria, but relocated to Zeerust.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - The South African Police Service (SAPS) reservist programme continues to collapse under Minister Bheki Cele with SAPS losing more than 90% of its reservists since 2011/12.
 In 2011/12 there were 52 054 SAPS reservists across the country. Ten years later in 2021/22 SAPS was left with just 4 393 reservists. Today, the numbers have declined to a devastating new low, with just 3 502 reservists across the country.

An inspection team of the Rustenburg Local Municipality, in conjunction with law enforcement raided a shop in Zinniaville and confiscated a number of food products which, according to information were all beyond their expiry date. It is alleged that this wholesaler’s customers are mostly tuck shops reselling these goods.
