Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Peter Brown died a month and a few days short of his 91st birthday.

He was in the care of his youngest daughter, Louise Wiggett, when he died peacefully at home in Klerksdorp. For years, Peter was a well-known businessman in Welkom before he and his wife, Unie moved to Klerksdorp to stay with their daughter after surviving an attack on their farm in 2017. His wife passed away in June 2021. They were married for 65 years.

Peter was born in Standerton on May 30 1933 and grew up on the East Rand. He was the eldest of four children. He and Unie got married in 1956 and stayed in Stilfontein where he worked on the mines. There they welcomed three daughters in the world. In 1970, the Browns moved to the goldfields in Welkom where Peter started his own engineering business. In the late 1980’s he retired to farm full-time.

He is survived by two daughters, Vanda Gagiano and Louise, three grandchildren and three great grandson’s. 

A memorial service will be held in Klerksdorp on Monday April 29 at C’est La Belle at 11:00.
