Gerrit en Petro Rademeyer, voorheen van Klerksdorp, woon nou al ‘n paar jaar in Pretoria. Gerrit het op Maandag 11 Maart sy 80ste verjaardag gevier. Hy was veral bekend onder Klerksdorp se naaldwerkers omdat hy naaimasjiene gediens en herstel het. Hul seun, ook Gerrit, het die kitaarwinkel in Smitstraat.
Klerksdorp Rekord, Vierfontein - Die NG Kerk Vierfontein se fees was ‘n reuse sukses en ‘n fees waarop die gemeente met dankbaarheid terugkyk.
“Ons wil net vir almal bedank wat bygedra het tot die voorbereiding en harde werk, want daarsonder sou die dag nie so ‘n sukses gewees het nie. Veral Klerksdorp Rekord en Overvaal Stereo se bemarking van ons kermis, het baie blootstelling aan ons pragdorpie gegee,’’ het die kerk gesê.
Die Wes-Transvaal Ou Motorklub van Klerksdorp, De Oude Wielen motorklub van Bothaville, JY Motors op Orkney, en individue wat hul spoggerige voertuie tentoongestel het, was beslis ‘n groot aantrekkingskrag. Die Ullyses motorfietsklub het behoorlik die koppe laat draai met die dreuning van hul ysterperde, en daar was genoeg stalletjies om besoekers besig te hou.
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A local arts group from Randlespark has just returned from Nepal, after representing SA.
Thebe Arts Group represented the Setswana culture at the South Asia International Folk Festival in Kathmandu.
The group made history as the first Setswana dance group to perform abroad. The event featured guests from Germany, Estonia, Nepal, India, Austria, Belgium, Botswana, Indonesia, Malaysia and Poland, and provided an exceptional platform for cultural exchange and appreciation.
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - This year, Miss Klerksdorp is 50 years old and probably is one of the longest running beauty pageants in South Africa.
A survey and traceable records revealed that the pageant was first hosted in approximately 1974. In the 1990s Klerksdorp Record became involved in the hosting of the pageant and in 2004, the current owner of the pageant, Zee Dyson, came on board as choreographer and stage director. After a two year break she obtained ownership again in 2022 and acquired the Mrs Klerksdorp title that she incorporated with Miss Klerksdorp.
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A photo of a Pied Kingfisher in a vertical dive was taken by Klerksdorp photographer Robby Holmwood. It earned him a second runner-up position in the Kruger Magazine amateur photo competition.
Holmwood is a member of the Klerksdorp Photography Club. He said he took the photograph in the south of the Kruger Park near Bergendal rest camp.
“The intent was to capture photos of the Kingfisher as it hovers in the air above the water before it dives. Because of the speed of the dive, it was never my intent to capture the diving Kingfisher. However, it was with a bit of luck that, with the hovering bird in the viewfinder, I instinctively followed the bird as it started the dive and managed to capture it in this vertical diving position,’’ Holmwood said.
