Dancers earn top awards

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The International Fine Arts Association (IFAA) Diamond Team award is a prestigious award reserved for only the most elite dancers, recognizing those who achieve an exceptional score of 95% or higher.

This high standard ensures that only the most dedicated and skilled performers earn a place on the team. Dancers of Klerksdorp’s UMDA Dance Studio were invited as a team to participate in the international competition.

They were included in the Beauty and the Beast show, as well as the Disney Parade.

Music concert will rock you

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - NW Musikon, the city’s highly regarded music school, has a night of electrifying music on the cards for locals.

The show is called Decades and will be held on Friday October 24. It will start at 18:00, at the Musikon’s Auditorium.

Decades is described as the ultimate concert, celebrating the biggest rock and pop hits from every era. It promises to not only be a concert, but a non-stop, high-energy party where chart-toppers meet timeless classics.

The performers will take you on a journey through the soundtracks of your life, featuring iconic music from legendary artists like The Beatles, the soulful power of Nina Simone, the contemporary pop brilliance of Justin Timberlake and Emeli Sandé, and so many more.

Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Die gestewelde kat is nie net ‘n karakter in ‘n kindersprokie nie, maar verlede week ook raakgesien by Hoërskool Wesvalia se matriekafskeid.

Tarien Duminy se gemmerkat, kompleet uitgevat in ‘n aandpak, sonder die stewels, was die perfekte metgesel na haar matriekafskeid. Cosmo (die kat) het hom soos ‘n wafferse “gentleman’’ gedra, giggel Tarien toe Klerksdorp Rekord haar oor die ongewone metgesel uitvra.

Uitgevat in haar smaraggroen rok met die gemmerkat aan haar sy (op haar skouer), het sy op Vrydagaand 10 Oktober omtrent die koppe laat draai toe hulle in ‘n ‘beach buggy’ by die geselligheid opdaag. Cosmo was gaande oor die aandag.

Nog ’n veertjie vir Klerksdorp skrywer

Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - Bekroonde jeugboekskrywer An-Mari do Carmo het haar tweede Woordveertjie gewen met haar tweede boek, Foto’s en Fairy Lights.

An-Mari woon in Klerksdorp. Sy werk as kinder- en jeugboekredakteur vir Lapa Uitgewers. Sy het as ’n tuisskoolkind op ’n plaas naby Lichtenburg grootgeword, en het elke week twaalf boeke by die dorpsbiblioteek uitgeneem én gelees.

Singer adds to his silverware

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Tshepo Makabe from Jouberton competed at the conductors’ solo competition at Empangeni the past weekend.

The competition on Saturday October 11 consisted of school choir conductors across the country, with Makabe representing Mmokeng Secondary school in Kanana. He is the choir conductor in that school.

The competition had different voice part categories - in the bass/baritone category he ended second out of 13 singers. He sang a song called La Vendetta by Mozart.

The next solo competition that he will compete in will be taking place at the Free State Musicon in Bloemfontein.
