Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - With the opening of the new cardiac unit at Lenmed Wilmed Park next month, construction at the hospital is ongoing with the expansion of the Emergency Department underway.
In this time, the Emergency Department remains fully operational with access provided through the hospital’s main reception. “Every precaution is being taken to minimise disruption to patients and ensure the highest standards of care throughout the development. By expanding our emergency and cardiac capabilities, we are ensuring that patients in our region have access to timely, specialised and compassionate care when they need it most,’’ said Alex Daneel, Hospital Manager.
“Our investment in the expansion of the Emergency Department is a reflection of Lenmed’s long-term vision to ensure timely, specialised, and compassionate care is always within reach. We’re excited about the future, and what this will mean for access to advanced emergency and cardiac services locally.”
Daneel added that the specialised cardiac facility that is opening in August will enhance the hospital’s ability to manage complex cardiovascular conditions, further cementing its role as a regional leader in clinical excellence.
As part of its commitment to community engagement and preventative health, Lenmed Wilmed Park Private Hospital will host two upcoming outreach events:
* August 2 at Matlosana Mall.
* August 9 at The Village.
Both events will offer free health screenings, including blood pressure and blood sugar testing, as well as stroke awareness education.
Community members will learn how to recognise stroke symptoms using the BE FAST principle:
* Balance - Sudden loss of balance or coordination.
* Eyes - Sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes.
* Face - Facial drooping or uneven smile.
* Arms - Weakness or numbness in one arm.
* Speech - Slurred or difficult speech.
* Time - Act fast. Call emergency services immediately
