NOORDWESTER – BIESIESVLEI - Sophie Gadifele Mosing (34) was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment by the Lichtenburg Regional Court. Four years of sentence was suspended for five years on condition that she does not commit a similar offence during suspension. Mosing was found guilty of the murder of 27-year-old Lele Andries Mogwase, who was her boyfriend. Evidence in court indicated that on Saturday, 7 October 2023, Mosing found Mogwase at a certain house in Itekeng with another woman. The couple proceed to leave the house, walking down the street. Before they reached their destination in Extension 3 Informal Settlement, Mosing allegedly took out a knife and stabbed Mogwase in the left side of his chest.
The Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) was summoned, but Mosing succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead on the scene.
The Station Commander of Biesiesvlei, Captain Thandiswa Mahube, condemned in the strongest possible terms, any actions of domestic violence and said: “Conflict must always be resolved with sobriety and maturity to avoid ruinous results.” She further applauded Detective Sergeant Abram Jezile, and the prosecution who worked tirelessly to secure this sentence.
