NOORDWESTER – LICHTENBURG - CPO Constable Matli and sector commander Sergeant Mashaba visited Manana Intermediate School as there were concerning issues that the principal has raised and needed to be addressed. 
They were welcomed by a powerful song from the learners and a warm welcome by Madam Ntehelang.
Mr Mosadi from New Beginnings Support Group explained the different ingredients used in the making of hubbly and cigarettes and he encouraged learners to stay away from drugs and alcohol abuse because they damage lungs and brain cells at a later stage.

He emphasized to have respect. He said learners should not only respect their teachers but should also respect their parents and fellow learners and refrain from bullying other children.
Mr Mohale from the Department of Health spoke about health issues around having sex at an early age and encouraged learners to take care of themselves and explained the importance of personal hygiene. He encouraged learners to report rape as soon as possible to parents and teachers so that they can get medical assistance in time to prevent pregnancy and diseases. 
Ms Mokwena from FCS (Child Protection) explained the different types of rape and encouraged learners to refrain from protecting perpetrators because they’re given money to buy their silence. She also explained and encouraged a boy to report rape and not be shy so that they can receive the relevant medical care and necessary help. She also encouraged learners to take good care of themselves and share information with others.
Colonel Jannie Haasbroek furthermore explained how FCS deals with cases of rape and advised learners to stay away from bad friends and avoid befriending older people. He told learners to always be neat and clean and they must be representable when coming to school and addressed bullying. He told learners that even at a young age they can be arrested so they should stay far away from activities that are against the law. He was very firm on boys that are touching girl’s private parts and gave them a warning. 
Mr Mashobane of Thusanang Trauma Centre addressed the learners on gangs and GBVF. He advised learners to report any form of abuse to their teachers and told them how to deal with different GBV associated situations. He urged learners to stay away from Gangs and criminal activities because they will end up in jail and ruin their future.
