Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Valerie Proudfoot passed away last week.

Valerie (83) was the proud mother of Matthew. He grew up in Klerksdorp and was part of both the Springbok and English rugby team’s coaching staff in the past.        
                                     
Matthew stayed with her in Klerksdorp up to her passing, while he was still coaching the Leopards in Potchefstroom. Condolences from all over the world started streaming in when news of her death became known. 

According to Yvonne Glaser, who was a close friend of Valerie, her death on Friday July 11 was unexpected.

“She was disabled and in a wheelchair, but she had carers. I don’t know what caused her death, but she certainly wasn’t sick. I’ve known her for many years. We played bowls and bridge together,” Yvonne said.

Valerie’s funeral service will take place at the Presbyterian Church at 11:00 on Saturday July 19.

Klerksdorp Record, Stilfontein - The NW Health Department last week issued a letter saying it will grant a hundred bed licence to Stilfontein’s revamped Duff Scott hospital - provided its’ management comply with a check list within six months.

This would entail laying in gas lines that enable theatre operations - at a cost of nearly R30 million which remains unaffordable to the hospital’s shareholders. CEO Annisia Botha says the hospital could legitimately open its doors tomorrow to create the necessary cash flow - without theatres for the moment.

Volgens mense op die toneel het hy weggehardloop en eers later die Vrydagmiddag 4 Julie na die toneel op die hoek van Servaas- en Jan de Wetstraat teruggekeer. Nog twee maats was glo saam met hom in die voertuig. Niemand is beseer nie.

Die agentskap is tans besig met ‘n hersieningsproses om die geskiktheid van begunstigdes wat verdink word van bykomende inkomste, te verifieer. Volgens die verklaring kan sommige betalings tydelik vertraag word terwyl ‘n begunstigde se hersiening afgehandel word.
