A social media post caused quite a stir earlier this week when it was rumoured that the two men found brutally murdered are the two men from Klerksdorp who went missing more than three weeks ago. Col Adele Myburgh, police spokesperson, confirmed that the two men found are not the two missing Klerksdorp men.
Guesthouses closed in CBD crackdown
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - In a municipal clean-up operation last week in the CBD, the Matlosana Municipality shut down four guesthouses for not meeting legal standards, casting a spotlight on unregulated accommodation.
The municipality did not disclose the names of the guesthouses but according to photographs taken during the operation it looks like the guesthouses are located in Bishop Desmond Tutu Street (former Park Street). In addition to the business crackdown, the operation also led to the apprehension of two undocumented foreign nationals, who have since been handed over to police. Five businesses also had their electricity disconnected due to overdue accounts.
Student raped while walking home from police station
Klerksdorp Record, Jouberton - A student suffered a terrible ordeal over the weekend, after going to the police station to open a case against her boyfriend for abuse and then being raped on the way home by two strangers.
The young woman (19) went back to college after the harrowing events, but is severely traumatised, according to her parents. The drama unfolded on Saturday July 26, when the victim and her boyfriend had an argument. It is unknown what the disagreement was about.

Collin Koortzen died on July 23, a day after his 62nd birthday. His sister, Mellaney Viljoen, cared for him the last few years. She is a former advertising manager of Klerksdorp Record.
