Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Klerksdorp is heading for an environmental catastrophe if the main wastewater treatment plant is not repaired soon.
Currently the plant discharges 69 litres of untreated sewage in the Schoonspruit poisoning the community. According to the DA “this is a full-blown sewage crisis that was allowed to spiral out of control’’. The plant has been out of service since July 2023 when an armed mob overpowered security guards at the site, stripping it bare. The main transformer located at the plant and the electrical cable network were stolen.
No closure for Elvis’ family
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The family of the mineworker who disappeared underground at CAPM Tau Leko gold mine are struggling to get closure Elvis Vers disappeared without a trace on May 2.
His brother, Percy, visited the offices of Klerksdorp Record and said his sister-in-law is still trying to make peace with his disappearance. It is difficult because they cannot have a funeral as he hasn’t been declared dead.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - A Nigerian crime lord was arrested after more than R1,5 million worth in drugs were discovered at his flat in the CBD last week.
Michael “Oscar’’ Okoya (51) was charged with dealing in drugs. He appeared in court on Tuesday September 9 and was remanded in custody. The case was postponed to September 17 for further investigation.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Residents of Meiringspark are furious because they had to spend more than thirty hours without electricity since Saturday September 6.
Some households only had power restored after 43 hours. DA Cllr Piet Swart said main power cables were damaged with three faults along the line. He suspected that tree roots were the culprit and that electrical teams as well as contractors worked long hours to get the faults and fix it.
