Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - The death of two little girls shocked the community after it became known that they bought chips from a local spaza shop hours before their death.

Sisters Realeboga Khaje (4) and Mosa Mogomotsi Mekgoe (3) were taken to hospital by their mother after feeling sick. According to family members the children bought Simba chips at a local spaza shop. The death of the young girls also caused an outcry on social media with the community demanding action against the owners of the shop.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Matlosana Mayor Fikile Mahlophe promised business owners in Uraniaville a turnaround in service delivery.

With the MMC for Infrastructure at his side on Friday September 12 he said Operation Tlhasela will resolve their fears and he scheduled a follow-up meeting for September 26 to review the progress made in the industrial area.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Local organised business has taken hands with the National Prosecuting Authority and SAPS as a strategy to reduce crime in the Klerksdorp CBD.

It is no secret that businesses in the CBD are struggling with ongoing crime syndicates scaring people away. Johan Oosthuizen of the Matlosana Chamber of Commerce said the purpose of the meeting on September 3 was to improve existing strategies and focus on high-impact areas.

Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Klerksdorp is heading for an environmental catastrophe if the main wastewater treatment plant is not repaired soon.

Currently the plant discharges 69 litres of untreated sewage in the Schoonspruit poisoning the community. According to the DA “this is a full-blown sewage crisis that was allowed to spiral out of control’’. The plant has been out of service since July 2023 when an armed mob overpowered security guards at the site, stripping it bare. The main transformer located at the plant and the electrical cable network were stolen.
