The Klerksdorp Wrestling Club celebrated their 50th anniversary. Wrestlers from all over the country gathered to compete, and it was a fiercely competitive atmosphere on September 13. Local wrestlers that took part are Owen Wetdewich, Lesedi Mongale, Pieter Strydom, Aiden Wetdewich, Bismarck Botha, Luka Gocev, Connor de Lange, Renier Botha and (front) Pierre du Toit, Bendre Pretorius, Sion Hoffman, Callum Wetdewich and Markus van Wyk. Luke Edwards, Alex Rive and Zach Rive were absent when the photo was taken.

Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - One of the country’s biggest and oldest sports festivals is taking place next month. The Sevens Festival at KHS is scheduled for October 3 and 4 and it will rock! The Golf Cup is scheduled for September 26, with 44 teams, and the bowls event for September 27 and 29 - with 36 teams!

Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - Laerskool Goudkop presents their night race this week, and residents should take note of the closures of streets in the area. The night race will take place on Wednesday September 17. The start and finish are on the rugby field. You can still enter by contacting the school. The costs are R100 for the 10 km, R80 for the 5 km and R60 for the 2.5 km. A temporary number for the 10 km will cost R60. Streets that will be impacted are: May Avenue, Smit, Liza, Monica, Henna, Heidra, Yulanda, Retha and Van Beek Avenue.

Klerksdorp Midweek, Klerksdorp - The Vlakvark Run is a legendary race through the Faan Meintjes Nature Reserve. The Klerksdorp Marathon Club will present the 19th edition on September 20, and entries are open. Pre-entries close on September 18. The race takes competitors through the reserve where they can spot various wildlife, and competitors from all over the country travel to Klerksdorp to compete.
