RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Following widespread showers since the arrival of summer which coincided with an increase of showers - especially during the third week of October this year, the levels of most prominent dams around the country are currently considerably better off than the same time 12 months ago. The latest levels of dams according to statistics of the Department of Water & Sanitation were recorded on 10 November.

The level of the five largest dams in the country – all of them in the Free State - also reflect levels which are considerably better than at the same time a year ago. The latest levels of the five biggest dams recorded on 10 November are as follows:
Bloemhof Dam – 96.5% (73.2%)
Vaal Dam – 101.0% (31.8%)
Sterkfontein Dam – 99.2% (97.6%)
Van der Kloof Dam – 92.3% (92.1%)
Gariep Dam – 94.4% (69.8%)
