RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Motoring in the Platinum City will return to normal - and just in time for without a doubt, the biggest Christmas present the city and its people could have hoped for. In it with great relief that Rustenburg Herald welcomes the news that the Helen Joseph bridge has been completed in a record feat six months ahead of schedule and will already have been officially reopened by the time that you see this report.
This is indeed a momentous occasion in the light of the fact that the “official” completion date in terms of the contract was set for 30 July 2026.
The first hints reaching us that the Helen Joseph bridge could be on the brink of completion and might be opening months ahead of schedule spread like wildfire throughout the city since last weekend, in fact, even the week before that. This was confirmed by several different role players since early on Sunday morning and Rustenburg Herald takes great pride in reporting that once again - our photographers were the first official news team to visit the bridge on Sunday and Monday afternoons, where we managed to photograph the team leaders, supervisors, engineers and dedicated workers who committed themselves to toiling away laboriously for months on end in an effort to beat the deadline by as much as possible to have the bridge ready by Christmas 2025. What else can we say but well done gentlemen - you have served the Rustenburg community well!
On behalf of the entire Rustenburg community Rustenburg Herald applauds Site Supervisor, Geo Viviers and his team, for not only a deserving, but a momentous effort which will see Rustenburg motoring return to normal during the festive season. Rustenburg salutes you gentlemen!
And remember folks - same roads, same bridge, same rules - safe driving out there!
