NOORDWESTER – WOLMARANSSTAD - The Anti-Gang Unit arrested three suspects on Wednesday, 16 October - one of which is a Ward Councillor - for extortion.
These arrests follows extensive investigations that indicated that a contractor, who was awarded a contract to build a supermarket in Extension 10, had allegedly been blackmailed since June. The contractor contacted the local Councillor and asked for assistance to employ locals, thereafter he was allegedly threatened numerous times and payments demanded for his safety and smooth running of the building project.
GROGL’s conference with message for matric class of 2024
NOORDWESTER – LICHTENBURG - The social movement of men called God; Restore Our Good Life (GROGL) with the motto “Men of Action Walking Together” under the leadership of Dr Daniël Buthelezi recently held a successful Men’s Conference at Polly De La Rey outside Lichtenburg.
The theme of the conference was “Uniting against Social ills to advance Social Peace, Stability and Cohesion.”
Bail granted for accused murderer
NOORDWESTER – COLIGNY - On 14 October, the courts preceedings at Coligny Magistrate’s Court didn’t favour the community and the family of Tlotlo Kamogelo Matlala, as the accused was granted bail for the murder of Matlala who was stabbed in a Tavern in Extension 3, Coligny on Sunday, 6 October.

NOORDWESTER – BIESIESVLEI – On Monday, 7 October police followed up on anonymous information that there were hidden items at a certain house in Itekeng.
Consequently, a search was conducted and a 32 year-old male was apprehended at Extention 1 in Itekeng after he failed to account for possession of two solar panel boards and a battery to the value of R12 000.
