Maar Jurie Blignaut (18) van Hoërskool Rustenburg, wat die kerfstok by 1.98m haal, is 'n plat op die aarde jong man met 'n blink toekoms wat wink. 
Terwyl matrikulante regoor die land die laaste paar dae asem opgehou het vir hulle 2024-eksamenuitslae, was die vraagstuk in Jurie se gedagtes nie óf hy sou slaag nie, maar wel hoe góéd hy sou slaag.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - SWARTRUGGENS - As reported in early December 2024, the South African Police Service in Swartruggens launched a manhunt after the escape of three detainees, who were awaiting trial.
The perpetrators escaped from the Swartruggens police holding cells on Sunday, 8 December.
Following a request by the police for public assistance the escapees were recaptured during the course of the festive season.

 Nadat dit vroeg in Desember gelyk het asof dit nooit weer gaan reën nie, het ons tans groot rede om fees te vier - veral die boeregemeenskap is verheug - hoewel boere nou al vir meer as twee weke spreekwoordelik “nie in die lande kan kom” om te ploeg en plant nie.

Jakarandabome haal gewoonlik in Oktober van elke jaar die nuus wanneer strate in talle dorpe en stede deur dié bome se pers bloeisels opgehelder word om aan ‘n purperparadys te herinner. Hierdie ou grote in Lucasstraat, binne loopafstand van die Rustenburg polisiestasie, het vandeesweek die nuus gehaal nadat dit verlede Saterdagoggend (28 Desember) om 02:00 weens te veel reën en sterk wind sy vastrapplek verloor het, uit die aarde geskeur het en in ‘n donderslag neergeslaan het.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - KOSTER - The Koster Regional Court sentenced two men to life imprisonment for the brutal murder of 71-year-old farmer, Ephraim Diloro. 
Wahasele Hazekiel Majoro (33) and Tumelo Martin Katali (41) were convicted of murder and theft. Each received life imprisonment for murder and 10 years for theft, with the sentences ordered to run concurrently. The tragic events occurred on 4 April 2022, at the victim’s home in Koster.

The DA in Rustenburg has formally written to Executive Mayor Sheila Mabale-Huma, urging her to convene this high-level crisis meeting involving all key stakeholders, to avoid “Day Zero”.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - MOGWASE - The Mogwase Regional Court recently sentenced six men to direct imprisonment for their roles in the murder and kidnapping of 34-year-old Katlego Donald Tshite. 
The accused, Sydney Obakeng Raikane (40), Happy Magatshe (34), Karabo Edward Modise (32), Matshidiso Motshepe (34), Kamogele Eric Mosothoane (34), and Sikwane Dunga Danke (40), received sentences ranging from 10 to 20 years' imprisonment.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - In an unprecedented audit outcome that has not happened on any occasion during the past decade, the Auditor General South Africa (AGSA ) has granted the Bojanala Platinum District Municipality an unqualified audit opinion. 
The audit was conducted in accordance with the International Standards on Auditing (ISAs). The AGSA believes that the audit evidence that she obtained was sufficient and appropriate to provide a basis for her opinion. It should also be noted that the AGSA opinion is not modified in respect of the matters found during auditing.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Bailey Mahlakoleng (56), the former Head of Department at the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, pleaded guilty on contravention of the Public Finance Management Act relating to the SA Express matter.  The accused made a guilty plea in the North West High Court on Friday, 22 November, and was subsequently sentenced. 
His sentencing emanates from an investigation by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation into allegations of flouting procurement processes when the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management entered into a contract with SA Express in 2015 to provide airline services for the province.

RUSTENBURG HERALD - RUSTENBURG - Rustenburg consumers seem to be at the sharp end of endless water and electricity problems judged by events, shortages and outages in recent days. 
Widespread water interruptions were experienced over large areas of town over the weekend with the latest series of electricity interruptions setting in on Tuesday morning this week. For the past few weeks, hardly a week has gone by without electricity interruptions or water cuts and shortages - with consumers protesting on social media platforms and in letters to the media.
