RUSTENBURG HERALD - MOGWASE - The Police in Mogwase have launched a murder investigation following the tragic death of a 37-year-old man who succumbed to injuries sustained during an alleged assault.
According to information received from Sgt Ofentse Mokgadi, Rustenburg police spokesperson, preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, 7 June, at the suspect’s residence in Unit 8, Mogwase.
It is alleged that a 51-year-old suspect discovered the victim inside his vehicle — a Nissan Micra — which led to a confrontation. A physical altercation reportedly ensued, during which the victim was allegedly assaulted with bare hands.
In a deeply troubling development, the suspect is alleged to have placed the injured man into a wheelbarrow and transported him to his nearby parental home, where he was left without medical assistance. Tragically, the victim passed away in the early hours of Monday, 9 June.
SAPS members were alerted and responded to the scene. A case of murder has been opened, and the suspect is currently in custody. He was expected to appear before the Mogwase Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 11 June.
The Bojanala Platinum Sub-District 2 Commissioner, Brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, has expressed concern over the incident and urges residents to refrain from resorting to violence or taking the law into their own hands. Community members are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or disputes to law enforcement authorities.
