RUSTENBURG – PHOKENG - Police in Phokeng have launched an investigation following the discovery of the body of a 27-year-old woman at her residence in Punodung Section on Sunday night, 16 November. According to Sgt Ofentse Mokgadi, Rustenburg police spokesperson, preliminary reports indicated that on that fateful evening, police received a complaint regarding an alleged murder.
A police vehicle was dispatched to investigate. Upon arrival at the house, members found the premises in disarray. Inside the main bedroom, they discovered the lifeless body of a 27-year-old female lying on her back. The victim had sustained severe head injuries, including open wounds.
Authorities also found a container with an unknown substance and a broken bottle with bloodstains near the body. The exact cause of death will be determined through an autopsy, and the murder weapon remains unknown at this stage.
Police are urgently requesting the husband of the deceased — or anyone who may know his whereabouts — to contact Phokeng SAPS to assist with the investigation. The Acting Sub-District Commissioner, Brigadier Mamotsamai Ntoagae, strongly condemned the brutal murder and appealed to the community to work with the police to ensure the perpetrator is brought to justice.
Meanwhile, a march has been scheduled to take place in Rustenburg on Friday, 21 November, from the Rustenburg taxi rank. This march was organised by various organisation in protest to ongoing Gender-based Violence in South Africa. It is scheduled to take place from 10:00 near KFC.
