Klerksdorp Rekord, Klerksdorp - The Triest Training Centre for people with intellectual abilities is in dire need of funds.
Currently the centre receives no subsidy from the government and has to think of creative ways to raise funds for the centre that many of the people who use the facilities call home. Johan Gerber, Director, said Triest has 54 clients and some of them stay permanently in the three residences that are not situated on the property in Elm Street.
Klerksdorp Record, Klerksdorp - Two local opera singers competed in a prestigious competition in Pretoria over the weekend and they are through to the final.
Tshepo Makabe, bass-baritone, and Lebogang Polori, mezzo soprano, competed in the Soli competition of the Tshwane Choral Music Association at Eersterus Hall on Saturday July 27.
The competition saw 54 singers taking part and both were invited back to compete in the final in November. Tshepo and Lebogang go to the same church, Uniting Reformed Church (Modimo wa Boikanyo). Their love for choral and opera music started there, from intermediate to senior choir and they further sang for community choirs.

Sy het derde geëindig met haar talent en vir gemaklike kleredrag en is ook die naaswenner in die topmodel kategorie. Sy het ondermeer ‘n studiebeurs gewen en ‘n toekenning vir uitstaande toewyding en prestasie.
Aanhangers van die jong Klerksdorpertjie kon haar deelname aan die internasionale kompetisie op sosiale media volg. Sy het saam met agt ander Suid-Afrikaners van verskillende ouderdomme deelgeneem en is volgens haar ma, Bonita, die enigste Suid-Afrikaner wat ‘n wen teruggebring het.
