NOORDWESTER – MOLOPO - The Acting Provincial Commissioner of North West, Major General Patrick Asaneng welcomed a life sentence and an additional 25 years imprisonment handed down to Bongani Ntoro (36) by the Molopo Regional Court on Monday, 30 June.
Evidence led in court revealed that the accused raped four women and the then 12-year-old minor between 2007 and 2010 in Magogoe, Tloung and Seweding villages in the policing precinct of Mmabatho.
Trio arrested for unlicensed firearms and ammunition
NOORDWESTER – VENTERSDORP - Three perpetrators were arrested recently when Ventersdorp Visible Policing members were on patrol.
They spotted and stopped a suspicious white Nissan Micra vehicle on the N14 and R30 (Krugersdorp/Klerksdorp) intersection.
Immediately after stopping, two men jumped out of the car and ran away. The remaining three males, two of whom are Zimbabweans, as well as the vehicle were searched.

24 Teams took part; Lichtenburg, Klerksdorp, Mahikeng and Potchefstroom. Teams advanced to an Upper and Lower bracket before playing Knockout Rounds: Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Finals for both brackets.
NWK hands out school shoes to celebrate Youth Month
NOORDWESTER – LICHTENBURG - NWK celebrated Youth Month by handing out more than 550 pairs of brand-new school shoes as part of its annual School Shoe Project.
This brings the number of learners who have benefitted from this project since its inception in 2012/2013, to more than 6 500.
Man sentenced for fraud and money laundering
NOORDWESTER – MOLOPO - The Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in Molopo has sentenced Patrick Segalo (52) to direct imprisonment following his conviction on seven counts of fraud and seven counts of money laundering.
The court consolidated all counts for sentencing and imposed ten years’ imprisonment for fraud, five of which are wholly suspended for five years, and an additional five years for money laundering. The sentences will run concurrently, resulting in an effective five years of direct imprisonment. Segalo was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.
